Shopping List

Serves: 4-6
Active Kitchen Time: 40-50 minutes

Fresh:

  • 1 small onion

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • shredded cheddar cheese (for serving)

Pantry:

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 ½ tsp kosher salt, divided 

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 

  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce  

  • 2 cups dried macaroni

Recipe Steps

Cut 1 small onion in half, trim away ends, and peel. Slice layers into strips. Dice into squares. Add to medium bowl. 

Smash and peel 2 cloves garlic. Finely mince and add to onion. 

Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in large pot over medium-high heat. 

Add onion, garlic, and ½ tsp kosher salt

Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 5-7 minutes. 

Add 1 lb ground beef and 1 tsp kosher salt

Cook until browned, breaking beef into small pieces with a spoon, 7-9 minutes. 

Add 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp dried basil, and 1 Tbsp tomato paste. Stir and cook 1 minute.  

Add 1 cup beef broth, 1 Tbsp Worcestershire, 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes, and 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

Turn heat to high and bring to boil. 

Reduce heat to low. Add 2 cups dried macaroni.

Cook, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente, 8-12 min. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on each serving.
