Thanksgiving Turkey Burgers

Yield: 4 Burgers
Active Kitchen Time: 20-30 minutes

Fresh:

  • small bunch fresh sage

  • small bunch fresh thyme

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 4 leaves lettuce

  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • ¼ cup cranberry sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 pkg crispy fried onions

  • 4 burger buns

  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Pantry:

  • ½ tsp kosher salt

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Suggested Side:

  • Sweet potato fries

Recipe Steps

Add ¼ cup cranberry sauce and ¼ cup mayonnaise to small bowl. Whisk to combine. Set aside.

Finely mince 1 small bunch fresh sage leaves. Measure 2 tsp and add to large bowl.

Pull leaves from one bunch fresh thyme. Finely mince. Measure 1 tsp and add to sage.

Smash and peel 1 clove garlic. Finely mince and add to sage and thyme.

Add 1 lb ground turkey, ½ tsp kosher salt, and 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce to garlic herb mixture. Mix well with your hands to combine.

Divide meat into 4 equal portions. Shape each into a patty about the size of the 4 burger buns.

Heat 1 Tbsp vegetable oil in skillet over medium-high heat.

Carefully add turkey patties to skillet. Cook until bottoms are browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Use a burger flipper to flip patties. 

Add 4 slices of Provolone cheese, one on top of each patty.

Cook until bottoms are browned and internal temperature reaches 165°F, about 5-7 minutes. 

Build your burger. Spread cranberry mayo on bun. Top with patty, fried onions, and lettuce. TASTE & SHARE!

Recipe Notes

  • At dinner, start a conversation about gratitude. Go around the table, and have everyone name 3 things they are grateful for and explain why.

  • A burger bar gives everyone a chance to participate. Include other common burger condiments so burgers can be customized

  • Gluten-free: Use gluten-free burger buns, such as Udi’s or Canyon Bakehouse. Use gluten-free crispy onions, such as Kroger Simple Truth, Natural Earth, or Lars’ Own.

    Dairy-free: Use dairy-free provolone, such as Follow Your Heart or Daiya.

    Egg-free: Use egg-free mayonnaise, such as Best Foods, Follow Your Heart, or Sir Kensington’s.

    Vegetarian: Replace with: 1 (15 oz) can garbanzo beans, drained and mashed into small pieces with a fork, and then mix in 2 Tbsp flour. Reduce cook time to 3-4 minutes per side.
